Educators in VR is working with the Psychology Department of Calgary’s Mount Royal University on a special course that explores the transformative potential for treatments and therapy using AI and the metaverse. As part of their final project, students are hosting two live events in ENGAGE XR on the topics of Revolutionizing Interactions in Health, Education, and Sports through Emotional AI November 30 and Stepping into VR: A Journey Through Social Anxiety Interventions December 7.

In the first event, the Mount Royal University students enrolled in the PSYC4408 course will unveil the groundbreaking intersection of technology and emotion with a guided walk in ENGAGE XR that explores the transformative power of Artificial Intelligence displaying emotions. In the realm of healthcare, witness how emotional AI fosters social connections and enhances daily activities for patients grappling with dementia.

Experience the future of education, where children revel in personalized one-on-one learning experiences that prioritize their mental well-being. Sports enthusiasts will also discover how emotional AI becomes the silent ally, providing unwavering support to athletes, elevating their psychological state, and propelling them toward peak performance. It’s not just a project – it’s a revolution in the way we connect, learn, and excel.

In the second event, the students will present an overview on social anxiety interventions using VR and emotional AI as part of their studies into the increasing prevalence of social anxiety disorder and the increasing use and accessibility of VR. Exploring the life-changing power for neurotypical cognitive therapies, they’re studying how emotional AI may become the silent ally, providing unwavering support, elevating their psychological state, and helping them connect, learn, and excel.

This is a special project with Educators in VR and the Mount Royal University psychology course to integrate VR into their coursework and academic pursuits, exploring the diversity of therapies and interactions in the metaverse for potential treatments.

We are very excited about these presentations, part of the ongoing work that Educators in VR is doing with high schools, college, university, and other educational and training organizations to integrate immersive education and manage deployments.
